What To Expect
We can’t wait to welcome you to our office! Upon your arrival at WingHaven® Orthodontics, you will be greeted at the front desk by Michaela, our Orthodontic Coordinator. She will complete the following:
- Show you how to check in for your appointments
- Take you on an office tour
- Bring you into the Exam Room to get to know all about you, and review what brought you in to see us
- Take your diagnostic records
- Tell Dr. Held all about you
- Introduce you to Dr. Held
Coordinating with Michaela, Dr. Cheryl L. Held will then complete the following:
- Conduct a thorough examination
- Perform a “Show and Tell” and explain to you what she sees
- Prescribe treatment, if needed
- Describe what system we will use to complete your orthopedic and/or orthodontic treatment
- Answer all of your questions, one on one
Once Dr. Held has answered your questions about treatment, Michaela will:
- Go over the prescribed treatment in more detail
- Discuss financial options and additional paperwork
- Schedule the necessary appointments to get started
What are Diagnostic Records?
- Extraoral and Intraoral photographs (i.e. Photos of your face and mouth)
- Virtual 3D study models of your teeth created by our iTero scanner. This scanner uses a camera that glides over your teeth to create the 3D image of your teeth
- Panoramic and Cephalometric radiographs (i.e. Full Frontal and Profile X-rays)
The Purpose of the Initial Examination is to Answer these Questions:
- What sort of orthopedic and/or orthodontic concern is present, if any?
- When is the proper time to begin treatment?
- What type of treatment is indicated?
- How long will treatment take?
- What will the investment be?
What’s Next?
If treatment is prescribed at the time of the Initial Exam, once the financial agreement and paperwork has been completed, the next appointment will vary, depending upon the type of treatment that you need. It could be getting Pitts21 braces or Invisalign, or it could be setting up for Series 2000® Expanders.
If you will need treatment in the future, but your mouth is not yet ready, you will get to be a part of our Kids Club, and Dr. Cheryl L. Held will monitor your facial development as well as the transitioning of your teeth from baby teeth to permanent teeth, until you are ready for treatment. This monitoring is complimentary.
What Will My Investment for Orthopedic and/or Orthodontic Treatment Be?
Your investment for orthopedic and/or orthodontic treatment will depend upon the complexity of your case. During your first visit, Michaela will discuss the fee and payment options if treatment is prescribed. We have different payment plans to suit your budget and accept assignment from most insurance plans. We work hard to make orthopedics and orthodontics affordable. It is our goal to help any patient who comes to us to perfect his or her smile.
What Does my Investment Include?
Your investment includes:
- Diagnostic records
- A personalized treatment plan to address your treatment objectives and any additional challenges that may have come up during the Initial Exam
- Active treatment fee for both early treatment options and complete comprehensive treatment with braces or Invisalign, including all appliances, office visits, and procedures performed in our office. Appliances are durable and should last through the entire treatment period if you follow instructions. If appliances require replacement due to loss, breakage, misuse, or failure to eliminate foods that cause damage, we may have to charge an additional replacement fee.
- For our patients undergoing either Phase II or Full Treatment, a high-quality adhesive removal manicure and polish of the teeth is provided exclusively by Dr. Held.
- Also for our patients undergoing either Phase II or Full Treatment, one set of final retainers is provided upon completion of treatment. There is a replacement fee for each additional retainer that is lost or broken.
- A lifetime membership to Retainers for Life, a fantastic smile protection program that allows you to order replacement retainers online whenever you need them, at a wholesale price
What Doesn’t my Investment Include?
- Work performed at other dental offices outside of our orthodontic practice
- If an unrelated accident or injury occurs while undergoing orthodontic treatment that results in TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint, or jaw joint of the lower jaw) complications, additional orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, etc., a fee adjustment may be required to complete treatment under these unusual circumstances.
Assignment of Benefits
We accept assignment of benefits for most insurance plans. By doing this, your out-of-pocket expense is substantially lower. Should there be any change in your policy prior to your insurance carrier completing the full expected payment of the insurance benefit, please contact our office immediately, so that adjustments to your contract may be made.
Office Hours
It is our goal to see you, on time, for your appointment. Time is scheduled to complete the necessary procedure, give information about the treatment, and answer any questions that you may have. In order for us to maintain a schedule that runs in a timely manner, we request that patients arrive on time to avoid delays, as the day progresses. Your cooperation and consideration with appointments are greatly appreciated by our team and the patients that are seen after your appointment.
